Overview

"The Tracker pursues mystical documents said to conjure demons while hunting for a monstrous killer in this medieval mystery with ""an appealing noirish air"" (Booklist). Since losing his knighthood, Crispin Guest has reinvented himself as an investigator for hire known as the Tracker. But his reputation will once again be put to the test with his latest case. Jacob of Provenal, a Jewish physician at the king's court, is missing a set of documents that he claims contain the power to bring forth a dangerous demon. Meanwhile, it seems a monster has already been unleashed on the city. Vulnerable street children are being abducted and murdered, their mutilated bodies the only clues left behind. With the help of his orphaned servant, Jack, it is up to Crispin to unravel the grim tangle of mystery and murder. This third installment of the Crispin Guest Medieval mysteries was nominated for a Romantic Times Award and was a finalist for the Macavity Award."

Author Information

"Los Angeles native and award-winning author Jeri Westerson writes the critically acclaimed Crispin Guest Medieval Noir Mysteries, historical novels, paranormal novels, and LGBTQ mysteries. To date, her medieval mysteries have garnered thirteen industry award nominations, from the Agatha to the Shamus. Kirkus Reviews said of her latest Crispin Guest Medieval Mystery A Maiden Weeping, ""Once again Guest's past misdeeds actually help him in the present in a case that includes plenty of red herrings and an interesting look at medieval jurisprudence."" Jeri is former president of the SoCal chapter of Mystery Writers of America and frequently guest lectures on medieval history at local colleges and museums. She lives in southern California with her home-brewing husband, a complacent tortoise, and 40,000 bees. Noah James Butler originally hails from New Mexico. He received his first taste of the business of show as an extra on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries, after which he began tirelessly pursuing any form of performance he could get himself into. This brought him to The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan, and upon graduation, on to The College of Santa Fe, where he received a degree in philosophy. Moving to Oakland, California, he quickly created a thriving theater career, and then discovered voice-over. His love of listening to old-time radio shows, especially The Mercury Theatre's production of Orson Welles's War of the Worlds, finally landed Noah in the realm of audiobooks. It was love at first listen, and Noah set out to create a truly immersive experience for the listener."
