Overview

This book is a compilation of five stories related to five poignant incidents of deaths I had encountered in my life, which had touched me enormously.LAST MESSAGE-Is a tale of vivacious, dynamic Jessica in her early 30s on her deathbed. She is unaware of her terminal stage breast cancer ailment. The emotional upheavals of Dr. Martha, who was coaxed by Mr. David, Jessica's husband, to convey the message of her imminent death to Jessica and to let her communicate her last wish; have been woven with finer intricacies along with the emotional predicaments of Mr. David and Mr. Matthew in the story. Amidst the somber atmosphere inundated with pragmatism and sentimentalism; the emotions of the protagonist, Jessica seem to be receiving subordinate position. The enigma surrounding the last message, per se, persists forever. ROCK GARDEN-A story revolves around physical loss and emotional trauma associated with the demise of a beloved pet, Rocky. The pain of losing him under a mysterious medical condition gets coupled with a suspected gaffe by his owner Monica, who exhibits self-reproach for his death and undergoes emotional trauma. Rocky dies after consistent suffering of few days, virtually in arms of Monica; before any firm etiology, final diagnosis and proper treatment could be ascertained for his failing condition. The final moments of Rocky's death are presented in a very touching manner. Memorial Rock Garden establishes a spiritual connection between Rocky and Monica's family.DONATION-A heartfelt story narrates emotional upheavals of a medical professional Dr. Liza who while working as a Senior Lecturer at Saint George's Memorial College and Hospital chances upon cadaver dissection of her high school teacher, Mr. Wilson. Her efforts related to the fact finding process and the reason behind Mr. Wilson's body donation ultimately unfold many serious torments of fortune and bizarre facts about Mr. Wilson's personal life. An ostensibly tough and principled man with diverse estimations of people regarding his uncanny character; Mr. Wilson proves himself a great philanthropist by donating all his possessions and body posthumously. The intricacies of grueling torments of destiny devastating his life and family; the circumstances of his body donation and sentimental engagement of his information providers Robin and Prof (DR.) Kelvin are spellbinding and touching.JASMINE-Is an emotive tale and memoir of a little girl Jasmine, who succumbed to a fatal disease of Infective Meningitis; as reminisce by Kittu, the protagonist in the story. Jasmine falls prey to a bullying incident at her school leading to severe injuries and her hospitalization. Her health condition gets deteriorated by the dreaded disease of Meningitis leading to her untimely death. The disease of meningitis literally engulfs a cute, little, gullible child to a great extent of diminution. The devastated health condition of Jasmine in final days of her bed ridden life, and emotional connection between Kittu, her aunt and Jasmine, has been woven with magical strokes of finer human emotions. BUNCH OF BLACK HAIR PINS-An exceptional heart-touching and one sided elementary school love story which ends on a heartrending note with the death of the suitor in the pain of separation of his love. A 19-year-old, notorious school boy Ashok falls in love with his classmate, 9-year-old Anna, and starts dreaming about a fairy tale life with her. She never acknowledges his love, though. On the contrary, she feels intimidated by him. She rejects moves of Ashok to befriend her and leaves for another school for higher studies. Ashok takes her separation to his heart and eventually dies grief-stricken. His last gift to Anna; a bunch of black hair pins, ultimately proves to be a lucky mascot for an emotional, repentant Anna. Upon maturity she comprehends the true value of love and recognizes Ashok as her soul mate. Finally, she realizes the rationale of the black pins to be lucky to her.
