Overview

The autobiography of Edward Heath, Prime Minister from 1970 to 1974, is not only a record of a momentous and unequalled career, but also an enlightening and entertaining document of the history of the twentieth century. First published in 1998, The Course of My Life covers in impressive and fascinating detail the career of one of Britain's longest-serving parliamentarians and offers astute portraits of his colleagues and contemporaries at home and abroad, including Roy Jenkins, Harold Macmillan, President Georges Pompidou of France, Enoch Powell, Harold Wilson and (of course) Margaret Thatcher. Heath was arguably the last PM to have evident interests outside politics, and the book covers these, most notably music and sailing, but many others besides.
