This done, the person who holds the end Of the chain or line at A, moves it to the second picquet at D, and the person holding the other end measures with his rod the distance from B towards E, and strains his line from D to E along which the liner, as in the line A B, plants his picquets; and thus proceeds with each succeed ing line or row, till the piece is completed.
