Hand-selected by editor Richard Thomas and his staff, this anthology includes a wide range of stories-a gamut of human emotions you might say. There is fantasy, science fiction, and horror. There is old and new weird. There are clowns and monsters, clones and spiders, existential dread and buried secrets, time travel and even a few prairie dogs. These genre-bending, hybrid stories represent some of the biggest and brightest authors writing today. With stories by: Kristi DeMeester - Kate Dollarhyde - Brian Evenson - Kurt Fawver - Michelle Goldsmith - Maria Haskins - Stephen Graham Jones - Kate Jonez - Cassandra Khaw - Helen Marshall - Kathryn E. Reviews

"""A red thread runs through this work, Gamut's latest flagship anthology, its dark tales spliced with grief, the warp twisted with ghostly gossamer and the weft shot with blood, so that the final weave is something inherently strong and exquisitely beautiful. Featuring some of horror's finest storytellers, The Best of Gamut is a stunning exemplar of Richard Thomas's editorial vision and Gamut's enduring quality. An instant classic."" -Lee Murray, five-time Bram Stoker Award(R)-winning author of Grotesque: Monster Stories. ""A wonderful arrangement of stories representing the spectrum of dark fiction, from speculative and psychological horror through dark literary fiction. Each tale pulled me in with stunning prose and left me with a lingering sense of awe.""-Christi Nogle, author of the Bram Stoker Award(R)-winning first novel Beulah ""The Best of Gamut will sit you down in an abandoned laboratory to tell you stories, feed you odd flavoured bubblegum and afterwards you will smell rotting funeral flowers, and see the smiles of clowns glinting in the corner of your vision. There are worlds here and each one will haunt you long after you close the book.""-Steve Toase, author of To Drown in Dark Water ""Each story in The Best of Gamut anthology is its own lyrical journey, inside and outside the realm of time and space, presenting intriguing versions of ghosts, love stories and death that kept me mesmerized from the beginning to the end.""-Linda D. Addison, award-winning author, HWA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, and SFPA Grand Master"
