Overview""Will the Asia-Pacific become the new center of the world? Today, the Asia-Pacific accounts for 60 percent of the global GDP and 66 percent of global growth. This rise in power, far from being limited to China, involves the entire region. With its many assets--its position at the confluence of the Indian and Pacific oceans, its expertise in managing external flows, its skills, its workforce--the Asia-Pacific is testing, shaking up, and challenging our positioning, our power of influence, and our universalist pretensions. At a time when cracks are forming in the American model and war is rumbling on Europe's doorstep, the Asia-Pacific is weaving a dense, active network to protect its members. It is also from there that the most thoughtful initiatives are being launched to de-Westernize the world order, potentially creating a ripple effect in the Global South. What will the consequences be for Europe? Will the Asia-Pacific become the new post-Western model? These are the questions explored in this fascinating book, informed by its authors' on-the-ground experience.""
