The Art of Deep Listening: Cultivating Awareness, Presence, and Connection through Listening and Rattling Practices

Overview

Many of us move through life feeling we are missing the fullness of the moment-overwhelmed by thoughts, unable to rest in the present. The Art of Deep Listening: Cultivating Awareness, Presence, and Connection through Deep Listening and Rattling Practices invites you to pause, listen, and awaken to the vibrant silence within and around you. Drawing on more than fifty years of inner exploration, Daniel Tigner guides readers on a gentle yet powerful journey into presence, sharing ancient and universal listening practices that open pathways to healing, prayer, and deep awareness. Through listening meditations, nature-based practices, dreamwork, and creative exercises, you'll learn to attune to the subtle energies of trees, the earth, and your own heart. This book, richly illustrated with beautiful color photographs, including rare images of musical instruments and rattles from museum collections, offers gentle yet practical exercises, inspiring insights, and timeless tools for cultivating moment-to-moment awareness, opening the heart, and personal transformation. Discover how deep listening can restore your connection to nature, to others, and to the sacred dimension of life.

Author Information

Daniel Tigner has spent more than fifty years exploring listening, awareness, and presence through meditation, consciousness work, and energy healing. His work is rooted in a lifelong journey of discovery, one that continues to deepen as he shares practices that invite others into presence and connection. He is the co-creator of Canadian Forest Tree Essences, a system of vibrational remedies derived from the living intelligence of trees, and has written or co-written several books, including The Art of Grant Tigner, The Time of Your Life: Everyone Has a Story, American Mystic: Memoirs of a Happy Man, Trees, Healing and You, and Canadian Forest Tree Essences-Healing through the Natural Resonance of Trees. An avid photographer with an archive of more than 40,000 plant images, he integrates image and word to awaken a sense of the sacred and the beauty within the ordinary. The Art of Deep Listening reflects this path and extends an invitation to join in discovering presence through listening. Tomson Highway is an award-winning Cree author, playwright, and musician. His memoir Permanent Astonishment won the Hilary Weston Writers' Trust Prize for Nonfiction in 2021. Sean Mah (Walking Bear) is a Plains and Woodland Cree artist, actor, author, and entrepreneur based in Las Vegas, NV. Raised in a Cree First Nations community in Northern Alberta, he apprenticed with Medicine Men from an early age and earned his first pipe at 18. A skilled shamanic artisan, he has created more than 4,000 rattles since 2014. Sean is also the author of Tales from a Shaman: Walking Bear Speaks.
