Overview

The Archer follows after The Black Knight and jumps right into action along with Cath Palug, Mabon and Eiddilig. Soon the companions find themselves face to face with new, unexpected challenges while Genevieve continues her training and begins to learn of Lancelot's origin on Avalon. Chris Mechling's Lancelot epic offers fresh perspective and insight into many of the characters and events of the Arthurian era, as experienced by the young Lady Genevieve. The Archer continues her adventures after the events of Book One, as she and her companions press onward and find each of their choices leading them deeper into perilous circumstances. A chance conflict with a band of marauders leads the Black Knight and Genevieve to receive an invitation to meet the volatile Faerie Queen Gloriana. A childish insult made years ago against Esmeree the Blonde leads to the Black Knight needing to defend Mabon in an unfortunate life and death confrontation with Sir Guingalain. Then Mabon finds a cause worth fighting for when he encounters members of the Sans Brothers gang, but is it more than the young prince is prepared for? Meanwhile, the relationship between Genevieve and the Black Knight gradually deepens, with both of them coming to trust each other more and more. Genevieve also continues developing her combat skills, learns more about the threats facing the Kingdom of Logres, and hears the tale of Lancelot's early childhood on Avalon. The epic that began with The Black Knight continues with The Archer- Books 1 & 2 both simultaneously published in early April 2024. The Black Knight & The Archer together mark the launch of Chris Mechling's Lancelot epic, with more books soon to be released. With its intimate and detailed approach to the Arthurian era, the Lancelot epic takes particular focus on the lives of Merlin, Arthur, Lancelot and some of the people who were closest to them, during the course of the fifth, sixth and seventh centuries A.D. Genevieve's narrative begins in 530 AD, and then jumps forward to 536 AD. From that point forward, we follow the path of Genevieve, the Black Knight, and their companions as they venture deep into the heart of Britannia and Logres as war looms over the land. Lancelot, Series One: Merlin will begin Genevieve's adventures and also explore the origins of Merlin, Arthur, Lancelot, Vivien Nimue, Morgan Le Fay, Guinevere, and other characters. Lancelot, Series Two: Arthur will continue Genevieve's adventures and also delve deep into the high days of Camelot, and the events that led to Galahad's Grail Quest. Lancelot, Series Three will conclude the epic, drawing together the threads of the story told in the previous books in a series of events culminating in the climactic Battle at Camlann and its aftermath. Whether or not you have previously read any classics of Arthurian lore, you may fall in love with this epic of Lancelot, and find that in unexpected and fulfilling ways, it carries much of the history, legends, and spirit of Arthur's Camelot.

Author Information

"Meeting Chris Mechling in person, it is virtually impossible not to observe he is 6'8"", but those who know him a bit better may be aware that despite his height he is rather committed to the idea of never growing up. Among other things, he has been passionate about writing stories since childhood. In May 2013, Chris' debut novel, Peter: The Untold True Story, was published, about the 18th century feral child, Peter the Wild Boy, whom Chris believes was the inspiration for the fairy tale of Peter Pan, and about the girl who perhaps knew Peter best. Now 41 years old, Chris is looking forward to publishing more of his novels, beginning with the simultaneous release of The Black Knight and The Archer, the first two books in his Lancelot epic. In addition to his work as an author, Chris is a painter, pencilist and digital artist. He has also practiced and taught martial arts professionally since childhood, along with his brother Nick. Together, the brothers have taught self-defense for men, women and children, and also taught amateur and professional fighters. Chris is also a part owner in other businesses. He was born and raised in San Diego by the ocean, and has traveled across America, as well as to Japan, Thailand, Russia, Europe, England, and other countries."
