Author Information

Andreas Meier is a member of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences and a professor for information technology at the University of Fribourg. He specializes in electronic business, electronic government, and information management. He is a member of the GI, IEEE, and ACM. After studying music in Vienna, he graduated in mathematics at the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich before he finished his PhD thesis at the Institute of Computer Science. He was a systems engineer at the IBM research lab in San José, California, a director at the international bank UBS, and a member of the executive board of the insurance company CSS. Edy Portmann is working as an assistant professor of information science at the University of Bern, Switzerland. In the past, he studied for a BSc in information systems, for an MSc in business and economics, and for a PhD in computer sciences. He was a visiting research scholar at National University of Singapore, as well as a postdoctoral researcher at University of California at Berkeley, USA. During his studies, he worked several years in a number of organizations in study-related disciplines. He is repeated nominee for Marquis Who's Who, a selected member of the Heidelberg Laureate Forum, co-founder of Mediamatics (i.e., Media and Informatics) think tank, and co-editor of the Springer series 'Fuzzy Management Methods,' as well as author of two popular books in his field. Kilian Stoffel obtained his PhD in computer science at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. He then spent several years as a researcher in the United States (University of Maryland and John Hopkins University). Since the beginning of his tenure as professor of information systems at the University of Neuchâtel (UniNE) in 1997, he has devoted his work to Knowledge Representation and Data Mining with a focus on medical applications and questions of security. He became rector of the UniNE in 2016. Luis Terán (1979) is currently working as assistant doctor and lecturer at the Information Systems Research Group, University of Fribourg, Switzerland, and he is a full professor at Universidad de Las Fuerzas Armadas (ESPE), Ecuador. He earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Fribourg (Information Systems Research Group). In 2009, he finished a M.Sc. in communication systems from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland. In 2004, he received a B.Sc. in electronics and telecommunications from Escuela Politécnica Nacional, Quito, Ecuador.
