There is a substantial body of literature dealing with the Occupation of Japan; yet hardly any of it has addressed the significance of the enormous contributions in science and technology towards the realization of Japan's 'Economic Miracle' during this period; in particular, there has been nothing published to date dealing with the work of Scientific and Technical Division of McArthur's GHQ.
