Unleashing deep, rich storylines, enjoyable character interactions, and compelling surprises upon her readers, D'Angelis is a storytelling force to watch out for. - Michael DeAngelo, Tellest author I really enjoyed D'Angelis' fresh take on things (having an elf as the villain was fun, and he was a great badguy)! Ahna was a really good character too, packed with depth and secrets of her own. If you love your fantasy along the lines of Dragon Prince or Dragon Age, definitely come battle for freedom in Kingdom Ascent! - Diabolic Shrimp I was overjoyed to see the maps at the beginning. Ahna is a bit of a complex character, but that's what I like about her. And her growth throughout the story, made me feel so deeply for her. Such a fantastic story. - J.A. Books The resistance movement we as the reader join is build on equality and is group that bands together irregardless of ones origins, religion, gender or race. The diversity is certainly noticeable but not forced. It's noticeable because queer characters aren't presented as sinful and their queerness isn't used to advance the plot, they just are. Just as female warriors are just regular occurrence throughout the book and not the exception that proves the rule. - Goodreads Fantasies, when well done, have a certain beauty all their own. D'Angelis has mastered exactly that in a story filled with adventure, peril, and self-discovery. The descriptions of the landscape are particularly breathtaking and truly make the story all the more riveting. In addition, the author has created a fascinating cast of characters and beings; their world is one that draws readers directly into the story. D'Angelis's work is not short on action. Page after page, Ahna and her comrades find themselves in the throes of a battle that never seems to end. The magical energy and abilities Ahna possesses make each and every one of their clashes that much more intriguing [...] A thrilling adventure that is brimming with imaginative characters. This is a fast paced novel that fits well within the epic fantasy genre. Highly recommended to fans of military fantasy. - Literary Titan Great book. Really likeable characters that I cared about. The story keeps wrong footing you. Definitely worth reading. Can't wait for the next one. - Avalon Retail A story about acceptance in an exquisitely crafted world. While it may seem rather similar to traditional fantasy tropes there's always something different about it to fascinate the reader. I've never read a story about acceptance of all people in the realms banding to defeat a false king like Kingdom Ascent. - NetGalley

Author Information

"Valena is a freshly emerged author on the fantasy scene. Her 2020 debut novel, Tempest of Bravoure: Kingdom Ascent, is ""dedicated to the little kid who dreamed of something different."" It's the first in a series of books written with the mission to refresh traditional fiction by filling its pages with powerful heroes and heroines who are often mis- and/or underrepresented. These characters, and the world they're based in (Terra) are developed in a rich, yet succinct and fast-paced way. She has taken the fantasy genre and trimmed it back to its most bare, most interesting bones, and fleshed them over with modern commentary and diverse characters. When she's not working to expand the Terraverse, Valena is a passionate Dungeon and Dragons player, Sci-Fi fan, and gamer, who pulls inspiration from these sources to invent alternate realms.
