Overview

A translation into Filipino, the national language of the Philippines, of TAO TE CHING, based on the verbatim translation of the original Chinese text, and compared with previous translations and adaptations. This is a revised version of LANDAS AT KAPANGYARIHAN, published in 2012 by Popular Bookstore, Quezon City, Philippines. It will be included in a forthcoming collection of new poems in Filipino, WALA, to be published by the Creative Writing Center, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Manila, Philippines.

E. SAN JUAN, Jr., emeritus professor of English, Comparative Literature, & Ethnic Studies, is currently professorial lecturer, Polytechnic University of the Philippines. He received his graduate degrees from the University of the Philippines and Harvard University. He was recently a fellow of the Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas; the WEB Du Bois Institute, Harvard University; and Rockefeller Foundation Center, Bellagio, Italy. He also taught at Washington State University, U of California Davis, Bowling Green State University, University of Connecticut, Wesleyan University, Brooklyn College, CUNY; Leuven University, Belgium; Tamkang University, Taiwan; Trento University, Italy; the University of the Philippines and Ateneo de Manila University.
