OverviewThe availability of a charging infrastructure is an important barrier for the adaptation of electric vehicles. Municipalities are responsible for developments in local public space. The findings of this research are relevant to a wide range of stakeholders in electric transportation. A adaptive strategy is formulated to support municipalities in formulating a policy to facilitate the implementation of a charging infrastructure on local level. A model has been developed and described, being able to calculate the expected demand on local level. This can be useful to regulators, energy supply companies, EV infrastructure construction companies, etc. Finally, technological developments and progress in the EV charging market are identified to be able to identify future developments. The demand for a charging infrastructure differs between types of neighbourhoods. Therefore a general and a specific strategy advice to municipalities is formulated. In the general advice a policy framework has been developed. Specific recommendations are included for different types of neighbourhoods.
