John Stevens Cabot Abbott (September 19, 1805 - June 17, 1877), an American historian, pastor, and pedagogical writer. Charles Greenstreet Addison (died 1866) was an English barrister and historical, travel and legal writer. William Penn Cresson 1873-1932. Elbert Green Hubbard (June 19, 1856 - May 7, 1915) was an American writer, publisher, artist, and philosopher. Among his many publications were the nine-volume work Little Journeys to the Homes of the Great. He died aboard the Lusitania, when it was sunk by a German submarine off the coast of Ireland on May 7, 1915. Mary Platt Parmele (July 14, 1843 - May 26, 1911) was an American author and historian. George Alfred Townsend (1841-1914), was a noted war correspondent during the American Civil War, and a later novelist.
