Still A Family is based on a true story of how two young sisters, Grace and Mia, face the challenge of accepting the news that their parents are divorcing. When they first learn of the news that Mommy is moving to South Carolina and Daddy is staying in Washington, D.C., it's very saddening. However, the girls quickly learn that what they thought was going to be sad news, has a happy ending. They soon realize that even though the family will be living miles apart, they are Still a Family.

Desiree Gordon-Tomlinson is a single mom, retired Army veteran, business owner, college graduate, current graduate student and yes, a divorcee. She currently lives in Columbia, SC and was born in the very small, farm town of Hemingway, SC. She joined the United States Army in 1989 and served 20 years in the military. While in the military, she married and had two beautiful daughters, Kennedi and Kinsley. It is there that she learned of her gift and passion for teaching My daughters, ages 9 and 14, continue to be the driving force that pushes me to my limit and motivates me to reach for stars that I never knew existed - totally UNIMAGINABLE! - Desiree Gordon-Tomlinson Upon separating from her spouse in 2013, Ms. Gordon-Tomlinson moved to Columbia, SC, where she pursued and earned her first M.A. in Management and Leadership from Webster University in 2015. She received a bachelor's Degree in Public Relations at Bowie State University in Bowie, MD, in 2013. She is currently pursuing a second master's Degree in Human Resource Development and fosters plans to write a sequel to Still a Family and other stories, to share her daughters' life experiences and lessons in order help other children deal with life issues in a positive manner. She currently enjoys teaching at a local college as an adjunct professor. In her free time, Ms. Gordon-Tomlinson enjoys cooking, interior decorating, traveling and reading. She is currently working on her second book, Grace and Mia Go to Counseling, which is expected to be released in the very near future.
