Overview

Wanda Ferragamo is the head of the world famous shoe and fashion firm, Salvatore Ferragamo. In this, her autobiography, she relates the story of both the success of the family's business and her own achievements. How, with a single decision made almost half a century ago, she not only changed her life, and that of her children, but also made a lasting global influence in the world of fashion and style. Born in Bonito, Italy, in 1922, the youngest of six children, Wanda married shoe designer, Salvatore Ferragamo, in 1940. From the depression, through World War II, the Nazi invasion of Italy, the period of reconstruction after the war and the rise of the Ferragamo name, all the way to the successful branding of fashion at the end of the twentieth century, the house of Ferragamo has withstood all changes. Left alone with six children when her husband died in 1960, Wanda managed to keep the family business going and grow it into the luxury brand we know today. In STEPPING INTO THE DREAM we meet the many Hollywood celebrities who wore Ferragamo, including Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo as well as the Duchess of Windsor, Eva Peron and more recently, Madonna.Lushly produced with fabulous photographs from the whole of the life of the Ferragamo business, STEPPING INTO THE DREAM is a wonderful gift for those who relish an inspiring family story as well as a peek into the world of extraordinary glamour.
