OverviewAlthough this book is all fiction and none of the events actually happened, the feelings described and emotions displayed are not rare, and many stepparents have probably realized the same in their situations. My intent is to let you know that if you are a step parent and have some crazy feelings and emotions, you are not alone. Your marriage can survive this. In 1985, Mary Anne and her son blended their family with Norm and his two children. In 1990, Mary Anne and Norm had another son. Then there were four boys: His, mine and ours! Mary Anne worked while their children were growing up, spending half of her career in the business world, and the other half as a teacher. Her teaching experience spanned from pre-school to fourth grade, but most of her teaching years were in a middle school. Mary Anne has Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education, and she still enjoys tutoring children in the local library. Their children are grown and out of the house with their own families, and Mary Anne and Norm are enjoying their grandchildren. One regret Mary Anne has is not receiving counseling during the years they were raising their children. She believes this would have helped ease the tensions as they struggled to find ways to adapt in a step-crazy environment. Mary Anne and Norm have now been married for 30 years, and she hopes that other blended families will take the first step to a healthy environment and enlist in counseling.
