More than 100 of these beautiful vessels were build between 1870 and the end of World War 1, primarily by the shipbuilding firm Ramage & Ferguson.  Floating palaces built with consummate skill by the shipbuilders of Leith, this tradition was often overshadowed by the more well-known and fairly larger concerns based in the west of the River Clyde.
