The matter contained in the following pages is intended to fully cover the design of small and medium size steam power plants. The fundamental elements of the subject are first considered in some detail, after which the various pieces of apparatus em ployed in power work are fully described. The later chapters are devoted to the selection of equipment for different conditions and the assembling of the same in the completed plant. No attempt has been made to cover central station work; only plants similiar to those found in manufactories, office buildings and institutions being considered.
