Overview

"During the decade between 1750 and 1760, Colonials had more on their minds than England's War with France and most of Europe. Many thinking men from New England to the Southern colonies had begun to plan their own ""coming out party."" Freemasons thought and began to plot. Dissenters worked to regain those members they had lost to the Anglicans and to increase their fold. Together, these two powerful institutions began to shape the hearts and minds of the Colonial populace, be they French, English, Scottish, Irish or another, to their ways of thinking...to their ideas of eventual freedom from Mother England. In that time men acted as they still do; some from the srength of their own good hearts and others from weakness and bitterness. What makes one man do good while another cares nought for anything but what he wishes for himself? What makes one man see to the heart and soul of someone and not let his eyes stop at the color of skin? What makes one man's tongue say soothing, comforting words, when another voices only bile and envy? Men of all types make STEADFAST a thrilling read."

Author Information

Dorothy K. Morris is a native of Charleston, SC, a city some of her forefathers from England, France, New England and Barbados helped establish in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. She grew up in the Low Country of South Carolina, steeped in the tradition and pain still felt from the residue of slavery, the Civil War and its aftermath. Well-traveled, she adopted the West as her home and has remained there for many years, now residing in Tucson, Arizona. She lives with her standard poodle and two cats. In addition to writing historical novels, Dorothy is an accomplished equestrienne and has been a competition coach for Combined Training. She enjoys genealogy and obtains many of the elements of her characters and plots from her extensive family history. She is a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and is listed in Who's Who in America and Who's Who of American Women. In 2017 Ms. Morris was awarded a Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts for this series and other contributions. Morris has two daughters, one grandson.
