Overview

Reviews

From the reviews: The present monograph is devoted to a mainly verbal description and evaluation of the philosophical foundation of statistics and its applications to the applied sciences. In the very large list of references readers may find literature for further reading. The present volume on the theoretical foundations of statistics as a component of an empirically based philosophy of science can be recommended to readers interested in the philosophical foundations of scientific inference procedures. (Kurt Marti, Mathematical Reviews, October, 2013) The main object of study is the field of statistics, especially with regard to its philosophical foundation and its significance in the general system of sciences. this book has been written for a wide audience of scientists who are interested in the contemporary position of statistical principles in the interrelation of exact and empirical sciences, on the one hand, and in its significance as an important tool in a modern theory of sciences on the other. (Werner Kleinert, Zentralblatt MATH, Vol. 1260, 2013)
