Reviews

Norman Lloyd brings a vivid, 'you are there' style to this thoroughly entertaining account of his multi-media career as actor, director, and producer. He generously offers his own experience as a unique educational tool to anyone interested in the craft of theater, film, and television. And his frank and witty chronology is peopled by larger-than-life legends like Chaplin, Renoir, Brecht, Laughton, and Hitchcock--all rendered with richly human detail. A delightful and enlightening book!--Elizabeth Forsythe Hailey

A delightful and enlightening book! -- Elizabeth Forsythe Hailey ...a valuable piece of theatrical history...instructive and evocative of the times. Lloyd is a self-effacing, articulate actor-director whose stories are as insightful as they are warm and often humorous. R.F. Falk, Choice The book should set on fire any young man or woman who dreams of a life in the theatre or any of the media...I read the book with enormous interest and hated to see it come to an end. May Sarton ...frank, detailed and generous. Ivan Butler, Film Review Annual [Uk] ...a delightful and informative volume, so full of good humor and sound critical appraisal. Anthony Slide, Classic Images ...an important document from someone who was there, a very immediate and human history of a very exciting time.
