OverviewIf you blend the United States, top secret documents, Russia, sabotage, Iraq, espionage and hypnotism, you end up with spy soup. The story begins in Washington, DC where there's spying going on at the State Department. No one notices the man with an earphone, one that's receiving from a transmitter hidden behind a conference room's chair rail. The information he's hearing will help his county acquire much needed information. Unfortunately, he makes a mistake that results in his transfer to Europe. Meanwhile, in Istanbul, Turkey, Iraqi military intelligence spies launch a plot. Their goal is to obtain a top secret formula from the United States. Iraq wants to expand its influence, and Third World countries are being targeted for economic investment and future exchange of goods. The formula they seek will produce energy without nuclear or fossil fuels, eliminating unhealthy smog and nuclear waste. A Mid-East organization called the Tariq'Allah desperately wants to get its hands on this process. Part of the Tariq'Allah team is working out of Istanbul, while two spies leave and settle in Amsterdam, Holland. One of the spies is a beautiful Iraqi woman, proficient in hypnotism. Her partner is an active military secret intelligence agent. Together they hunt down a U.S. Army officer working with military intelligence to convert him to be their mole. A miscalculation on their part gives them a different result than they anticipated, and their target mole is replaced with an even better specimen. Through their subterfuge, Major Paul Remmich becomes both a spy and a foreign diplomat for the Tariq'Allah and is tasked with stealing the formula and overseeing the construction of an energy plant in a Third World nation. Meanwhile, the Army is investigating the ongoing espionage they have discovered. The mole's best Army friend, Eric Miller, joins the counterintelligence team, looking for traitors who confiscate classified documents, then go AWOL. On a trip to Cuba, he stumbles on the hypnotized officer when Remmich's quirky habit with a matchbook cover unwittingly exposes him. This discovery leads the search team to the plant construction site, and further solidifies the evidence of a dangerous collaboration, one that could get Remmich killed. Upon the surveillance team's return to their U.S. Army base in Germany, the Iraqi spies are ordered to coerce Miller to work for them as well. When Miller meets his hypnotized friend in Amsterdam the Iraqi's try their hypnosis tactic on him. Things quickly come to a head, and the U.S. Army intelligence officers are faced with several difficult decisions as they try to save their valuable team and avert an international episode.
