When I was a child, I knew the world was alive - everything! But this knowledge wasn't supported. Not only did I talk with the family dogs, trees invited me to climb them, seashells brought the messages from the ocean, birds showed me paths in the woods, stones had secret power, the clouds showed me pictures and creeks took me to faraway places, while dragonflies told me secrets. Where was this shamanic coloring book when I was a kid? But that doesn't matter - what matters is Spirits of Nature is here now, touching that spiritual essence in every child. Shamanic artist, Catherine Athena Louise, knows that the natural wisdom of children needs to be supported - especially in this world of hyper technological development, and that is exactly what this shamanic coloring book does. Each of the drawings encourages a deeper connection with nature. And who knows? Perhaps, some of the magic will rub off on parents as well! -Jonathan Horwitz, Scandinavian Center for Shamanic Studies. This book is a gem. Welcome into the world of magic, the natural world. Here the author plants seeds of wonder and meaning into young hearts, awakening curiosity, beauty and connection. -WindEagle Kinney-Linton, co-author of Heart Seeds, A Message from the Ancestors, Founding Director of Ehama Institute and the World Foundation for the Discipline of Peace. The shamanic coloring book, Spirits of Nature, speaks directly to the hearts of children (and the inner child in adults) in a way that can help them deepen their connection to the magical world of nature and spirit. It encourages and allows children to use their natural connection to the spiritual reality in a free and creative way. This book can help children keep their curiosity, their sense of adventure, and their sense of awe and wonder alive in today's world. -Chris Luttichau, Author of Calling Us Home, and Spirit Animal Guides. This is a wonderful coloring book for your child or for your inner child to get you more connected to nature and everyday ceremony. I love it! -Renee Baribeau, Award Winning Hay House Author of Winds of Spirit. I love the philosophy you express in your beautiful coloring book. It is so important that we do work with the children, helping them to understand and feel a part of their natural world. I very much appreciate your contribution to doing that in such a creative and inspiring way. Spirits of Nature is a book for children of all ages to share and enjoy. -Marlise Wabun Wind, co-author of Dancing with the Wheel The Medicine Wheel Workbook (A Sun Bear Book), The Medicine Wheel Earth Astrology, Bear Tribe's Self Reliance Book, Dreaming with the Wheel and Black Dawn, Bright Day. Mother Nature is such a wellspring of nourishing light and love to all parts of our being! She forever reminds us of the magical mystery of life, its eternal nature, and continuous support. Particularly through these troubled times, she remains a constant source of renewal, peace, and beauty. In her book, Spirits of Nature, Catherine Athena is offering us all, both children and adults, an opportunity to reconnect with not only Mother Nature but our Soul. It is such a beautiful reminder of simple yet shamanic practices we can do each day to build a stronger bond with Gaia and ourselves. I can't wait to pull out my crayons again and know you will find sweetness within these pages yourself. Thanks for all you do, Catherine Athena! Blessings! So Much Love. -Kaypacha, Shamanic Astrologer, creator of the popular 'Pele Report' weekly astrological forecast and New Paradigm Astrology.

Author Information

Catherine Athena headed out from sunny New Zealand and travelled across the world to England seeking adventure, castles and the woodland creatures she loved reading about in 'The Wind in the Willows'. Called to the shamanic path very young, Catherine's life has taken her through a series of powerful initiations and threshold experiences. She studied with witches, druids and shamans, was touched by Lightning during a sudden storm and finds enchantment in lonely, windswept landscapes. She loves riding around town on her cornflower-blue vintage bicycle and delights in becoming thoroughly ensconced in mixed-media art making, visual journals and found-poetry collages. . . She can also be found immersing herself in arthouse indie films, earth medicine practices with drum and rattles and capturing the seasons changing with her camera. Catherine is an honorary Waitaha tribe member (the Rainbow People of Peace) from Aotearoa, New Zealand. Bestowed this honor by Waitaha kaumatua Patrick Ruka (Maori Elder) following a pre-dawn ceremony in 1995. Her mission is to create beauty and magic in the world.
