Overview

Fleetwood Mac are a British-American Rock band formed in London in 1967 by guitarist Peter Green. Over 30 years, the band comprised of fifteen musicians shuffling through six major lineups with the two beat keepers surviving it all; drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie. The band sold over 120 million records and some of their hits include ""Dreams,"" ""Don't Stop,"" ""Little Lies,"" ""Hold Me,"" ""Big Love,"" ""Sara,"" ""Tusk'"" ""You Make Loving Fun,"" ""Rhiannon,"" ""Gypsy,"" ""Landslide,"" and ""Hypnotized."" Founder Peter Green left the band in 1970 after a mental breakdown caused by LSD. The band began to transition from a Blues to a Rock and in 1971 Jeremy Spencer left the band after joining a cult and Danny Kirwin left in 1972 due to his allergic reaction of alcoholism. Bob Welch joined the band during this period and left in 1974. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined the band from 1974 through 1987. John and Christie McVie divorced in 1976 and in 1977 Rumors was released and wond the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. By 2003, the album had sold over 19 milion copies. Up to 1987, the band had released eight albums and had 20 songs make it on the Billboard Top 100 Charts. Nicks and Buckingham left the band from 1987-1995, in order to put out their own work and band went on tour in 1987-88 and put a 4-CD box set. In 1993, the members of the Rumors album reunited to perform ""Don't Stop"" at the Bill Clinton's first Inaugural Ball. Fleetwood Mac was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. Christine McVie left the band in 1998 and rejoined in 2014 until her death in November of 2022. Mick Fleetwood announced the band was ""done"" after Christine McVie's death. Fleetwood Mac created 18 studio albums, had 25 hits on the Top 100 Charts, won a Grammy for their1977 Rumors album and were inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame and Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998. They sold over 120 million albums and Rolling Stone Magazine ranked their Rumors album at 25 on the Top 500 Greatest Albums with the Fleetwood Mac ranking at 183rd. This book is a proper introduction to Gen Z about Fleetwood Mac.
