Author Information

Author Sharon F. Shrum currently lives in West Virginia. She writes children's books and has worked in public education for over 25 years. Her life has been dedicated to helping children not only academically but socially and emotionally as well. She has a passion for improving education and life's outcomes for systemically marginalized children, which is also the driving force for her life and career. The book, Somethin' Out of Nothin' is her debut book. She has several other literature projects still in the works. Sharon believes one of the biggest things that breaks poverty is education. Many times, quitting school goes hand in hand with poverty. A person's likelihood of not completing high school when in poverty is higher than those not living in poverty. Once a student has dropped out of school, the cycle of poverty can continue to grow. Education is key to breaking generational poverty.
