OverviewBook based on the thesis ""Bacterial Diversity of Soils in the Atlantic Forest Zone, and Characterization of Cellulase and Xylanase of Biotechnological Interest,"" supervised by Prof. Dr. Demetrius Araújo, from the Graduate Program in Biotechnology (Northeast Biotechnology Network - RENORBIO), Federal University of Paraíba. João Pessoa-PB. 2014. Although little known, microbial soil biodiversity is responsible for the discovery of hundreds of bioproducts, and the search for microorganisms of industrial interest is an important strategy for the development of new biotechnological products and processes. The Atlantic Forest is one of the world's biodiversity hotspots. Agricultural practices have transformed this biome into monoculture fields, such as those of sugarcane. The influence of monocultures on the soil bacterial community is still poorly studied. The objective of this work was to study the bacterial diversity of the soil of the native Atlantic Forest and under sugarcane cultivation.
