Author Information

ALEX NICHOLLS is the first tenured lecturer in social entrepreneurship appointed at the University of Oxford, UK. He published in a wide range of peer reviewed journals and books, including four sole authored papers in Financial Times Top 30 Journals and eight book chapters. His 2009 paper on social investment won the Best Paper Award (Entrepreneurship) at the British Academy of Management. In 2010, Nicholls edited a Special Edition of Entrepreneurship, Theory and Practice on social entrepreneurship – the first time a top tier management journal had recognized the topic in this way. He is the General Editor of the Skoll Working Papers series and the Editor of the Journal of Social Entrepreneurship.  ALEX MURDOCK Professor of Not for Profit Management and Leadership and Head of Centre for Government and Charity Management at London South Bank University, UK. The Centre is part of the Social Enterprise Cluster of the Third Sector Research Centre (funded by the Economic and Social Research Council UK). His research focused on the intersection of the public, private and third sectors. He is actively involved in charities and social enterprises as a trustee and board member. He has worked at The University of Paris (Sorbonne), France, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, and Brunel University, UK, and is Visiting Professor at two Norwegian Universities. He has degrees from the University of London, University ofMaryland, USA, and London Business School, UK. He qualified as a Probation Officer at University of Newcastle and worked in Social Work for 11 years.
