Audio Format

Overview

The gods of the ancient Slavs beckon through time in this comprehensive guide to authentic polytheistic practices rooted in Eastern European traditions. This illuminating guide to the living traditions of Slavic Paganism unveils the rich cosmology of deities, folk magic, and the unique dual-faith tradition that blends Pagan elements with Orthodox Christianity. Drawing from her Serbian American heritage and decades of devotional practice, priestess and vračara (witch) Ana Urosevic Applegate introduces powerful gods like Perun and Veles, alongside the nature spirits that inhabit forest, field, and home. Learn to honor ancestors through traditional veneration techniques, create authentic altars, and perform seasonal rituals that connect you to the Slavic wheel of the year. No matter your background, this book provides practical tools for incorporating Slavic folk magic into your spiritual path while developing meaningful relationships with these venerated ancient deities.

Author Information

Anna Urosevic Applegate is a first-generation Serbian American priestess and polytheist who brings decades of devotional practice to her exploration of Slavic traditions. A certified death midwife and founder of the Fellowship of Isis-chartered Iseum of the Rekhet Akhu, her work bridges ancient wisdom with contemporary practice. She also conducts workshops and performs rituals in the Chicago area. Fio Gede Parma is a Balinese-Australian nonbinary witch, international teacher, and magical mentor. Fio is a cofounder of the Coven of the Wildwood and a midwife of the Wildwood Tradition. Visit them at fiogedeparma.com. Alex Raby is a Hoosier-born, NYC-based actor and narrator. A former library munchkin, her love for immersive stories took her into the world of theater and onto an MFA in acting at UC Irvine, where she trained extensively in Fitzmaurice Voicework and Knight-Thompson Speechwork while playing an assortment of doctors, maids, and warrior queens. Due to a childhood spent wrangling younger brothers, Alex thrives at whip-smart and feisty characters amidst the worlds of rom-coms, fantasy, and historical fiction, and loves telling stories about women in STEM. Off the page, Alex loves teaching herself Polish, wandering the international grocery stores of NYC, and counting all the pugs she sees while strolling through her neighborhood.
