Carlos Ledson Miller dropped out of college after one year and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After his release from service, he lived for a year in the New Orleans French Quarter. He then relocated to Houston, where he went to work for a major oil company. He retired 30 years later as a senior computer analyst. Carlos now lives and writes on the Texas Gulf Coast.
