As our high streets become either bland copies of each other or slip into decline, these beacons of traditional shop life offer beautiful shop windows, typography and history. Covering over 80 shopfronts, the book features beautiful watercolour illustrations of the capital's bakers, cafes, fishmongers, greengrocers, chemists, launderettes, hardware, paper/print places and little vintage shops. Each shop is accompanied by information on the shop, its history, owners and location. As our traditional high street life disappears, Eleanor Crow captures our passing trade.

Eleanor Crow is a book cover designer and illustrator who, in addition to shopfronts, likes to draw everything from armadillos to zucchini. She is the illustrator of The Pebbles on the Beach and Grief is the Thing With Feathers. She is based in London and Stroud, Gloucestershire.
