Overview

Graeme Sharp is a bone fide Everton legend. Second only to the immortal Dixie Dean as club s top goalscorer, Sharp became a Goodison Park hero during the halcyon days of the 80s, when Everton won two League Championships, the FA Cup, the European Cup Winners Cup and came within an ace of a historic treble in 1984 85. Partnered first by his boyhood idol, Andy Gray, and then by England hero, Gary Lineker, Sharp established a reputation as one of the finest strikers in the world and notched up 12 caps for his national side. Born and raised in Glasgow, Sharp had progressed through the Scottish amateur scene before being signed by Dumbarton. There, he attracted the attention of the bigger clubs north and south of the border, but there was no hint of what was to follow when he put signed for Everton in 1980. Sharp won most of the game's top honours at Everton and became the club's top post-war goalscorer, netting 159 goals in 447 appearances. Although his eventual departure from the club was rather messy, he proved quite a few people wrong by continuing to score goals at the highest level for Oldham Athletic, before later becoming the manager of the Lancashire club. Author Information

Graeme Sharp was raised in Glasgow and signed for Everton in 1980, where he won most of the game's top honours and became the club's record post-war goalscorer. He represented his country in the 1986 World Cup and later played for, and managed, Oldham Athletic before a brief spell as manager of Bangor City. Living in North Wales, he is back at Everton as the fan's liaison officer.
