Overview

"Have you always been fascinated by history - even just a little bit? If you have, odds are you'll be delighted by this gem of a book. You won't be getting the popular story of how William Shakespeare's name is on the plays, poems, and sonnets, so why doubt him? Instead, using a unique, and original approach, author Robert Boog points out the glaring errors. For example, if the man from Stratford-upon-Avon was the ""real"" author, when why the fainting, insomnia, despair, depression, and suicidal thoughts found in the Shakespeare canon? Boog points out that these things are symptoms of Bipolar II Affective Disorder (pronounced ""Bipolar Two Affective Disorder) and Shakey's Madness explains how these symptoms can only be found in 2.6% of today's population, so this percentage may have been even smaller during the Elizabethan era. Bipolar symptoms fit only one person living during the time of Queen Elizabeth. Who? Read Shakey's Madness to discover: does a mental disorder reveal the ""real"" William Shakespeare?"

If you are a fan of conspiracy theories and crime stories like me, you most likely will like this book! My brother has bipolar disorder so I can relate. Well worth a read. --Kerry G. You have deepened Shakespearean studies in less than 200 pages. The field should never be the same after this book. It should be studied and discussed in college classes throughout Europe, the United States, Canada and the UK. --Ron R 'Shakey's Madness' is a well-researched and well rounded argument around the real author of 'The First Folio'. Using academic resources including The Folger Shakespeare Library, The author sets out his hypothesis that the real author of the work currently attributed to William Shakespeare may have experienced bipolar, and this information may help us to uncover the true author of these Elizabethan plays and sonnets. Fun, short and sweet. I can't say I've ever particularly doubted that Shakespeare's work was written by William Shakespeare; that is I was familiar with the theory that they were written by someone else, it had just never interested me enough to look into it. I was curious about 'Shakey's Madness' as a neutral observer, and I found that the author formed his arguments in a way that was entertaining and interesting. It reminded me of a university essay, with references to academics and further sources but I found it easy to follow along with. I feel this would be an interesting read regardless of which side of this particular argument you fall. -- James B I am a devout Stratfordian and I did enjoy this book more than I thought I would. Not spoiling anything but in the end it is left for the reader to decide if we agree with the argument put in front of us. I think that Shakey's Madness is an interesting one to ponder for those looking to learn more about the Shakespeare authorship arguments as well as those looking for more evidence to support an alternate theory. You might also learn something about the bipolar II affective disorder along the way. I can definitely relate to some of the thoughts, feelings, and questions asked in this book, as I, too, have a mental illness. It is refreshing to read a book that I feel understands me in some respect. I really liked it. Thank you for writing it. --BG
