Overview

Woodworkers and furniture enthusiasts alike have long loved the practical, durable, and attractive style of Shaker furniture, and this collection of original projects are suitable to grace all home interiors-from traditional layouts to more contemporary arrangements. A step-by-step instruction aid, each project is accompanied by detailed shop drawings that break down component parts into a manageable assemblage. While avoiding Shaker cultural origins and history, this book emphasizes the simplicity of each project-with each component piece practically coming off the lathe with the look and feel of a master's touch. Projects include a rocking chair, a meeting house bench, a drop-leaf table, a wall clock, and boxes and stools, while a gallery of finished pieces will inspire crafters to address and tackle each delightful challenge.

Traditional oval boxes, a wall clock and a step stool are also illustrated. One project that you will certainly want to build is the traditional Shaker rocking chair and the book shows you how to build it. The book also shows you how to ‘rush’ the seat.
