Overview

It takes more than attitude to be KING! Señor Saguaro has lived many years in the sol caliente with agua poco. He knows just what it takes to grow and thrive in the Sonoran Desert…or does he? After befriending a bat, a woodpecker family, and a fruit-loving pack rat, Señor Saguaro sees his royal role in his ecosystem in a whole new way.

Author Information

Lisa Rose writes children's books, including the award-winning picture book, The Singer and the Scientist. Lisa is only five feet tall, so, the saguaro cactus looks very majestic to her. She lives near Detroit, Michigan where most of the time it is too cold for saguaros. But it is not cold for her dog, two cats, one fish, and three hermit crabs. Lisa loves to swim, practice yoga, and eat ice cream, just not at the same time. Emma Graham is a versatile and experienced illustrator and graphic artist. Since graduating from Norfolk Instiute of Art she has build a vibrant portfolio including children's picture books, private commissions, and Wild In Art sculptures. She was longlisted for the Picture Books Hooks mentoring scheme and a finalist in The Hook at the SCBWI BI conference. As author, she was a finalist in the Stratford Literary Festival's Salariya Prize for picture books. Emma is commissioned illustrator for teh Children's Appeal at Ipswich Hospital(UK)--a charity raising funds for a full refurbishment of the children's ward.
