Overview

When the cause of two midair disasters over the skies of South Florida are investigated, the FBI and NTSB are at odds whether the crashes were merely a coincidence or a criminal act. Is it possible that the United States is in grave danger and no one seems to know, except perhaps the president and his cabinet? Seminole Bend is an innovative thriller novel that contains ample twists and turns, and takes you on a page-turning wild ride guaranteed to keep you guessing right up to the very last page! Rogue CIA agents, Oliver Harfield and Ray Jackson, recruit Ray's brother Roy and Florida Governor Hank Daughtry into a scheme to take down America and become very rich. With secret funding from Jasurbia's Prince Adil, a pair of Middle Eastern Yale and MIT grads are hired to develop radar-jamming and remote guidance systems that can control civilian aircraft from the ground. Meanwhile, Seminole Bend's beloved high school basketball coach, Brett Berry, dies trying to save his pregnant wife from a pickup truck fire following the biggest win in school history. But the burned and unrecognizable body in the pickup truck may or may not be the coach's wife, Sheryl. When deputy sheriff Willy Banks finds evidence of foul play that links wealthy rancher Roy Jackson to the accident, he is mysteriously fired by Sheriff Al Bonty. A web of intrigue unfolds as Willy sets out on his own to investigate Roy Jackson and ultimately uncovers a hi-tech operations center near Miami run by Governor Daughtry's DNR appointee, Sam Dulie. The covert DNR office is being used as a command center to jam radars in major US airports and remotely control airborne jets towards perilous destinies. The cast of fictional characters is interwoven with historical events and actual places to lure the reader into an entertaining labyrinth of Deep South culture, political stratagem, and international conspiracy.

Reviews

Seminole Bend is fiction at its best, with a generous dose of gripping realism that keeps the pages turning with genuine anticipation. A credible story plot, along with a host of unique characters, will spark any readers curiosity as to what can possibly happen next. Hansen's creativity and commitment to detail, along with realistic referrals to places and events make this book a must-read for the conspiracy-minded community. I am a BIG fan of this genre (Daniel Silva, Lee Child, Nelson DeMille) and I would rank this novel right up there with them. Characters are very well developed, and the plot is surprising right up until the very end. I can't recommend this book strongly enough. A must-read for fans of this genre! I literally couldn't put it down! Lots of twists and turns, action, great characters, and edge of your seat excitement! I anxiously await the next novel from this new and talented storyteller! I just finished reading Seminole Bend and utterly enjoyed the entire book. The detail and complexity that the author wrote were amazing. I didn't want to miss a single written word as it was all relevant and added interest to the story. It intrigued me that reading about such graphic and morbid events could actually cause me to chuckle at the same time. That is quite a skill for an author. I just finished Tom Hansen's book! I couldn't wait to get to the end, and all of the time trying to picture how this would look in a movie! Since I've been to Okeechobee, I could picture the locks, mangroves and the gators! BUT I could never predict what was going to happen next! How he wove the web of characters, countries, technology, and sports into this story is genius! You can't put this book down once you start, and I can't wait for his next book! Just finished reading Seminole Bend. An exciting and intriguing plot with many surprise twists and turns. Never sure who is going to meet their untimely end and by what manner. While a fairly large book at 530 pages, it is a quick read because you don't want to put it down, and with many relatively short chapters you are always saying Just one more chapter before you try to put it down. The detailed references to what was happening in the time frame of the book are impressive, and living in South Florida makes it even more interesting by knowing of the places where the action occurs in the book. If you want to read an exciting new novel by a new novelist I would highly recommend this book.
