Prior to that she gained a first class degree in Psychology and Diploma in Occupational Psychology at Hull University, and then did an MBA at Liverpool John Moores University and a Ph.D at Aston University. She also worked for General Motors so has both practical and academic expertise. For the last two years she has been a convenor of the training and development group of the BPS's division of Occupational Psychology. She joined the Open University in Oct 2001 with a remit to develop a psychometric Masters' module which included BPS psychometric level a&b competencies.
