Overview

Students work together to raise salmon in the classroom. Emmy and her classmates have a special hands-on assignment: raising salmon and releasing them into the wild! At school, they learn about the biology, life cycle, and habitat of salmon, and watch them grow from egg stage to fry stage. When Release Day comes, the students wish their fry goodbye and good luck, hoping that one day they'll find their way back to spawn.

She's written sixty-nine nonfiction books for young readers. Mary lives in Tacoma, Washington, with her husband, Mitch, kids, Eve and Eli, and the world's most opinionated airedale terrier, Ruthie Bader. School of Fish is Mary's debut picture book. Milena Godoy is an illustrator from São Paulo, Brazil. She started her career right after graduating in animation and is currently focused on children's books. Her most recent and notable works include illustrations for Superinteressante and Você S/A magazines.
