Over the years, he has worked in network deployment, software development, web development, and Internet advertising. He has also worked as a volunteer in a number of computer-related capacities in his community and served as the About.com guide to Linux from 1997 through 2001. He holds degrees in English and Anthropology from the University of Utah and a master's degree in the Social Sciences from the University of Chicago. He currently works as an editor for military history titles at ABC-CLIO.
