Henry Buckton is a best-selling social historian who hasalso written plays and stories for children. His literary careerbegan in 1985 with the broadcast of his first children'sstory on BBC Radio Bristol. His previous history booksinclude Yesterday's Country Village, which examines rurallife in Britain from 1900 to 1960, and Friendly Invasion: TheAmerican Occupation of Britain 1942-1945, which exploresthe relationships forged between the British public andAmerican servicemen during the Second World War.Henry was born in Somerset and is married withtwo children. He was educated at the Somerset Collegeof Arts. As well as being a writer, he has a full-time jobwith the Ministry of Defence Police and Guarding Agency.A former member of No. 4626 (County of Wiltshire)Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force, his military trainingincluded time spent on Salisbury Plain.
