Reviews

In a rapidly expanding field, Russia’s Arctic establishes itself as a new standard reference. Laruelle and Radvanyi provide a historically grounded analysis of the domestic and international dimensions of Moscow's Arctic policy, engaging critically with geopolitical contestation while keeping focus on the social and ecological fragility of the Russian north. * Lukas Wahden, Sciences Po Paris, author of the Substack ""66° North"" * The long shadow of the Ukraine War has disrupted many cooperative endeavours in the Arctic and upped the intensity of geopolitical tensions. This impeccably researched book examines these impacts and demonstrates how unsustainable Russia’s plans for both economic development and militarization of its vast Arctic territories have become. * Pavel K. Baev, Research Professor, Peace Research Institute Oslo, Norway *
