OverviewThe present volume is the first of five which collectively comprise one of the three major treatises in the Russian language devoted to civil and commercial law. Under the editorship of two of Russia's most distinguished civilists, this work originally appeared in 1997 and in a second edition in the year 2000, reissued in 2007. The authors have made substantial additions, corrections and emendations for this English-language version as late as February 2009.
