But first she learned the chemistry of herbal medicines in graduate school, then helped to found a concrete products business flourishing today, then raised three amazing children, including one with special needs. Then she finally followed her bliss. She studied writing in Emory University's evening classes and at conferences such as The Sewanee Writers' Conference. An alumna of Emory and Georgia Tech, she has published literary short stories, personal essays, journalism, and poetry. She is the author of the Kirkus-starred World War II novel Rubies from Burma, named one of the best 100 Indie books of 2017 by Kirkus Reviews, and Saving Miss Lillian, a finalist for the prestigious Maggie Award of Excellence given by the Georgia Romance Writers, as well as The River Nymph, winner of a Gold Benjamin Franklin Award.
