Overview

Freya is a norwegian woman whose partner, Normand, a glaciologist, disappears while investigating the sudden disappearance of polar ice. A computor disc arrives from him that is written in a code connected to the Norse fairytale The Snow Queen. In the story of The Snow Queen a heroine must journey north to rescue her lover who has been imprisoned by the snow queen herself. Thus begins Freya's experience of living in a fairytale. She must decode the disc and follow in Normand's footsteps to Alaska and then far northern Norway and Russia with a family of Sami, who are indigenous reindeer herders on their annual migration east. Normand has discovered that a secret group that he calls The Icicle Thieves, are using NicholasTesla's technology to melt polar ice and open up the arctic to shipping. At each step in her journey, Freya becomes more afraid for his life as she realizes he's on the trail of something highly sensitive and definitely secret. And so is she. She discovers that not all who profess friendship are to be trusted which causes her to be suspicious of everyone. However, along the way Freya does make friends who come to her aid: Sid, short for Siddhartha, is an Indian man from a royal family who is also investigating the unaurhorized use of Techla technology. Meret, a Sami woman who becomes her guide on the reindeer migration to the isolated Northern Russian location where the technoloigy is being used to melt polar ice. But where is Normand?
