OverviewThe Corning Museum of Glass, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, possesses the most celebrated collection of glass in the world, including one of the most extensive collections of Roman glass anywhere. These two books begin a three-volume series (Volume Three will appear in 2003) that comprehensively catalogues this great collection, with a photograph, profile drawing, and detailed description of each object (including comments on the object's significance and on similar pieces in other collections). Included in each volume are bibliography, concordances, and indexes. Volume One covers 481 objects (dating from the first century B.C. to the eighth century A.D.): objects formed by casting or pressing; vessels formed by casting and blowing; cameo glass; blown vessels without decoration; objects with picked-up or blobbed decoration; and cut, engraved, and wheel-abraded objects. 500 colour illustrations Full Product DetailsAuthor: David WhitehousePublisher: Corning Museum of Glass Inc.,U.S. Imprint: Corning Museum of Glass Inc.,U.S. ISBN: 9780872901391ISBN 10: 0872901394 Pages: 382 Publication Date: 17 July 2002 Audience: General/trade , Professional and scholarly , General , Professional & Vocational Format: Hardback Publisher's Status: Active Availability: In Print This item will be ordered in for you from one of our suppliers.
