OverviewThe story is about the life of a Jamaican whose family migrated to the USA when she was age nine, and who returned to the island years later, after completing schooling in Springfield, Massachusetts where she learned to play the violin; traveling around the world as a stewardess for Pan American World Airways for 10 years; then purchasing a house in Kingston in 1978, and returning there in 1980, where she has been teaching the violin for 30 years using the Suzuki Violin Method. There were very few Black stewardesses, and even fewer Jamaican stewardesses, working for the airlines in the 1970s, and so her experiences, which included recruiting Flight Attendants, were unique and varied. The eighteen stories depicted in the book span over 40 years, and were originally written in actual time in her diaries and journals. They reflect honest feelings and true experiences. She relates to the words of Mother Theresa who stated: I alone cannot change the world but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples. She felt that the word would be a good title for her autobiography.
