Overview

Alva rushes through the trees in the dead of night with her sniffer wolf, Fen. Being out alone when there's a kidnapper on the loose is reckless, but if she ever wants to be an investigator like her Uncle Magnus, she'll need to be first to the crime scene. But what Alva discovers raises more questions than it answers, drawing her into a dangerous search for truth, and for treasure.

Author Information

Author Janina Ramirez is a historian and broadcaster who specializes in decoding symbols and uncovering the bigger picture behind works of art. She is the current course leader for the History of Art at Oxford University, and has been writing and presenting history programmes for BBC television and radio since 2010. She also has a weekly podcast Art Detectives produced by History Hit. She lives in Oxfordshire with her husband, son, daughter, and two cats. When she gets a quiet moment (rarely!) she likes to grow veg, listen to audiobooks, and watch old episodes of Inspector Morse. David grew up in West Sussex, reading a lot, drawing a lot, and messing about in rivers a lot. Nothing has changed much, except that he does them all on Dartmoor now. He also enjoys playing music, cycling, dancing Argentinian Tango, and growing things to eat.
