Overview

How has agro-food policy evolved in the Czech Republic between 1986 and 1994? This study, the third such review of a non-OECD country (after Hungary and Poland), provides background data and detailed calculations of the levels of assistance granted for the main agricultural commodities measured by the Producer and Consumer Subsidy Equivalents. Focusing particularly on the transition to a market economy in the Czech Republic, it examines the process of privatization and restructuring of the agriculture and food sectors, emerging agricultural trading arrangements, and policies to assist the agro-food sector.
