OverviewThis book presents recent advances in renewable energy scenarios for future Indian smart cities including technologies and devices at the scales of both experimental and theoretical models for Industry 4.0, the concept of automated and computerized industrial manufacturing and practices. The current Indian economy is inclined towards smart urban cities, but the energy deficit in modern society is not well recognized. As a result, there is an enormous need to explore alternative avenues of energy for future smart cities. Because such cities depend significantly on technologies and devices that comprise Industry 4.0, the synthesis of energy scenarios enables an understanding of the technology, applications and devices that contribute immensely to the textile, construction, cosmetics, biomedical and environmental industries, among others. These industrial areas are the key starting points for a wide range of applications, consequently becoming top priorities for science and technologypolicy development. Such advances already have been adopted in various contemporary services and products, especially in the fields of electronics, health care, chemicals, cosmetics, composites and energy. This book is a valuable resource for practising energy planners, citizens and professionals such as businesspeople, bureaucrats from all levels of government, employees from nongovernmental public organizations and their volunteers and other individuals who have stakes in the development of their city-region. He is currently employed as a Research Scientist at the Center of Excellence in Weather & Climate Analytics, Atmospheric Science Research Center (ASRC), State University of New York (SUNY), Albany, New York, USA. He has expertise in academic research in remote sensing, geospatial technology applications, urban studies, information science, and analytical research methodologies. Before joining as a Research Scientist, he educated for 6+ years as an Assistant Professor in the fields of Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics, Information Science, Analytical Research Methodologies, Climate Change, and Sustainable Urban Studies at Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Noida, India. He is actively involved in the teaching, training, mentoring, and research supervision of doctoral, postgraduate, and undergraduate students in addition to other non-academic or administrative responsibilities. He has completed two government-sponsored research projects as a sole principal investigator namely “Hybrid Urban Landscape Analysis for Green Smart Cities through Geospatial Technology” sponsored by the Science and Engineering Research Board, Government of India, and “Meta-sensing of an urban footprint from airborne synthetic aperture radar (ASAR) data” funded from Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. He has been revisiting a wide range of issues associated with traditional research activities but has an interest in thinking about other non-traditional/challenging areas/topics for the exchange of research activities. More preciously, he has been working in the intersection area of Computer Science, Geospatial Technology, Sustainability Science, and Satellite Image Processing for monitoring urban landscapes but over the past few years his primary areas of expertise and research focus on around Remote Sensing Observations, Applications and Analysis, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Urban Landscape Informatics and Analytics for Smart Cities, Environment and Climate Change, Sustainability Science and Policy, Urban Research Methods, and Analysis, Urban Environment, Urban Weather and Climate Modelling (Impacts & Aspects of the UHI), Sustainable Urban Environment, Infrastructure and Climate Change Management, Sustainable Development Goals and Nature-Based Solutions (NbS), Data Structures, Database Systems, Data Analysis and Visualization, Computer Science, Information Science, Systems, and Technologies, Cyber Defense, Spatio-Temporal Spatial Data Management, Analytics and Geovisualization, Renewable Energy Economics, Management, and Integration. He is the recipient of the Early Career Research (ECR) Award from the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India. He has supervised 4 Ph.D. research scholars and numerous postgraduate research students. Hehas published more than 45+ research papers in international peer-reviewed (SCI, Scopus, and WoS indexed) journals, 15 chapters in edited books, and has two upcoming edited books with a focus on urban and energy issues. He has received international travel grants to present research findings at international forums. He is serving as an editorial board member and is a reviewer for several scientific journals of International repute (Elsevier, IEEE, Taylor & Francis, PLOS, Sage, nature, Springer, IGI Global, MDPI, AGU, EGU, and others). He has leveraged skills in analysing several types of research data for the development of techniques. He encourages researchers to develop skills, knowledge, and experience, in aspects of research, budget and project management, teaching, publication and conference appearances, outreach activities and membership in committees. He is currently actively associated with the International Geographical Union (IGU), International Union for Conservation ofNature (IUCN), IEEE SA-P4006 Working Group, International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS), European Geosciences Union (EGU), Indian National Cartographic Association (INCA), Indian Meteorological Society (IMS), Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), International Association for Promoting Geoethics (IAPG), and the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS).
