OverviewLocal photographer, Ray Hollands has created a pictorial essay that captures the unique atmosphere of the marshes, whilst at the same time producing evocative images of the people within it. These photographs speak for themselves; conveying a feel and understanding of the land and culture of its people, whether depicting a mediaeval church ruin or kite-surfers scudding along the shoreline. The black and white photographs presented in this book have all been taken on film and subsequently developed and printed by the author. Some are perennial chestnuts, such as Fairfield Church, while others are quirky and subjective, documenting the ordinary and sometimes unnoticed detail of everyday life. This book contains images to open the eyes-give new insight into corners or aspects to those that may already feel that they are acquainted with the area and, hopefully, give pleasure to those who have yet to discover it.
